In this painting, I've sought to encapsulate the inner journey and the enigmatic beauty of the divine feminine. The woman, draped in a patterned shawl, holds a cigarette, her gaze reflecting a deep, introspective world. This is a nod to the liberated spirit of the 1920s, mirroring the personal freedoms I experienced growing up in the 'free-to-be-me' ethos of 1960s and 1970s San Francisco.

The subdued tones and textures in the painting are a direct homage to the esoteric teachings that shaped my early years, with the shawl's intricate patterns hinting at the complex nature of these philosophies. The woman's contemplative mood captures the profound impact of my near-death experience, which continues to influence my quest for metaphysical truths.

Through this piece, I express my continuous exploration as a human and an artist, delving into the ever-deeper mysteries of existence. It's a manifestation of my hope to find new means to reveal the sublime layers of reality that lie just beyond our conventional sight.

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Victoria Moore

Victoria Moore was raised with esoteric teachings and philosophies than influences of organized religions, she was very much a blank canvas when she had a near-death experience (NDE) at the age of twenty-two. The profound realization of crossing over and the visual residue continue to demand attention. It inspires my search beyond physical realities as I delve into the sublime realm of the metaphysical. As a child of the San Francisco ‘free-to-be-me’ 60’s and 70’s, the influence of culture movements and the emergence of the divine feminine began to weave throughout my work alongside the empowered female emerging socially. As a human explorer, her hope is to continue the journey with a sense of wonder into the ever-deeper mysteries. As an artist, her hope to discover new ways and means to illuminate them.
