Cunning Linguistics

$47,000.00

Constructed entirely of embroidery floss and reclaimed cosmetics waste on canvas, the background of this piece features a quote from none other than Biblical Author Commissioner King James I: "To make women learned and foxes tame has the same effect - to make them more cunning.

"In true Pretti Graffiti format, this quote has been rendered nearly unrecognizable and the canvas has been reclaimed with inspiring words from a marginalized person.

As a survivor of non war related childhood torture and clergy sexual abuse, the artist chose to reclaim the canvas with a line from mental health advocate and multifaceted artist Emilie Autumn: "if we've got no honour, then we've got no shame." from her 2012 song Fight Like a Girl.

The artist has chosen to interpret and depict this line as a rallying cry for survivors to shed the cloak of shame which has been clinically proven to worsen PTSD symptoms and reclaim the canvas of their lives with their own unapologetic existence. The price of each piece in the artist's collection is chosen to reflect a number that carries significance relevant to the theme of the piece. This particular piece is priced at $47K for the 47-man committee commissioned to author the King James Version of the Bible.
